Wu-Tang Clan Partners With Auction House to Sell Special Edition Album
Last year, RZA announced that the Wu-Tang Clan would release one copy of the album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and later received a $5 million offer for the release. The group has now come up with a unique way to sell what could be a multi-million dollar transaction for the Wu.
Once Upon a Time in Shaolin will be sold via auction house Paddle8, RZA announced in a Forbes interview. The company describes itself as "a marketplace for collectors, presenting auctions for extraordinary art and objects."
What drew him to Paddle8 was the company's understanding of both the "new" and "classic" forms of art. "It could be anything from people who find dinosaur bones, to what Banksy is doing," he said. "The new album should be, and is, considered an art."
Wu-Tang will roll out more details, along with a partial track list, on a website launching later in the month.
