Cee Lo Green Pleads No Contest in Ecstasy Case
Cee Lo Green pleaded no contest Friday (Aug. 29) to a felony charge for sharing ecstasy, TMZ reports. Green, 39, has been sentenced to community service and three years of probation in the case stemming from a 2012 arrest.
A woman that he was dating at the time claimed he slipped the drug into her drink before sexually assaulting her. The "Forget You" singer admitted to using the drug but maintained that the sex was consensual.
Last October, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office threw out the assault charge due to insufficient evidence. However, Green was slapped with a felony drug count of furnishing ecstasy. The lesser count of sharing ecstasy means the accuser used the drug voluntarily.
Green must serve 45 days of community service, to be completed with the Recording Academy's MusiCares Foundation. Judge Mark Young also allowed Green to receive drug and alcohol counseling through a private doctor.
In addition, Green's no contest plea allows him to maintain innocence and cannot be used against him in a civil suit.
