Game Organizes Gang Leaders to Help Pay for Slain Child’s Funeral

Compton rapper raises $7,000 in an hour for 7-year-old victim.

The shooting death of a 7-year-old boy has inspired Game to help raise money for the child's funeral, TMZ reports.

The victim, Talib Pecantte, was shot while waiting in a car in a suspected gang-related incident in Los Angeles on Monday (Dec. 2). Talib died at a local hospital the next day, and when Game heard the news he decided to help out. He raised $7,000 in an hour, some of which came from rival leaders within the Crips, Bloods and Latino gangs.

"This morning I woke up and I was privy to the story from a member of the family and I almost burst into tears immediately," the father of three explained to TMZ Live Wednesday (Dec. 4). "It's a 7-year-old boy, my son is 6, and I have a son [that's] 10, and I couldn't imagine living life without them, period."

The timing of the shooting, less than a month before Christmas, also struck a chord with Game. "Three weeks before Christmas? Something's wrong with that. It's not cool at all," he said.

Given the gang-related clashes still claiming innocent lives in Southern California, Game, a former gang member, met with top leaders to broker a temporary peace treaty. "We gon' do a 'Cease Fire L.A.' campaign starting right now throughout the holiday season," he explained.

The plan is to kick-start a "stop the violence" campaign, step by step, Game elaborated. "If we tell everybody just to stop the violence at  least during the holiday season make sure that no other kid gets shot then we can talk about 'stop the violence' in January, and in February we can do it for Black history month."

Game is wholly committed to charity. He launched the Robin Hood Project to help those in need, and has used his own finances and public platform to raise both money and awareness for various causes.

In August, the tatted-up rapper inked Trayvon Martin's face on his arm, as a dedication to the slain teen. His act of kindness caught the attention of Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, who reached out via text to say that she "appreciated the gesture," Game said recently.
