Wale Joins Drake's OVO Fest
Wale's hitting the festival circuit next month. The MMG rapper has been added to the list of performers for Drake's popular OVO Fest in Toronto. Drizzy made the announcement via Twitter Thursday (July 25), promising "a doozy" of a show.
This year, the festival will be spread over two days. Fellow headliners Frank Ocean and the U.K.'s James Blake are billed to hit the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre stage on Aug. 4 as well, while Drake closes out the second day with unnamed "special guests."
Afterward, Wale is scheduled to make a hometown stop of his own for Trilectro, a hip hop and electronic music festival in Washington, D.C., Aug. 17.
With a No. 1 album (The Gifted debuted atop Billboard last month) and such a hectic performing schedule, it's likely that Wale will be traveling by plane, but not one piloted by American Airlines. The "Bad" rapper vowed to not fly with the company after being booted from a flight to New York. "Got put off the plane for having my phone on," he tweeted Tuesday (July 23) night, denying any wrongdoing. "It was off, honestly."
Other passengers were kicked off the plane as well, according to his tweets about one of the flight's attendants. "She kicked off two people and requested I be kicked off for havin my phone on hr earlier."
He also noted that the he and the pilot were having a "civil convo" until the police showed up and "[the pilot] started yelling and gettin [sic] aggressive."
Meanwhile, American Airlines declined to comment on the incident.
