Promoters Cancel Australian Hip Hop Movement Festival
An Australian hip hop concert series headlined by Nas has been canceled one week before its kick-off date, Billboard reports.
Promotions giant Live Nation and Niche Productions axed the first annual Movement Festival, featuring Angel Haze, 2 Chainz, Iggy Azalea, Joey Bada$ and more.
The multi-date event aimed at "filling the void of credible hip hop events in Australia" was set to launch April 24 at Auckland's Vector Arena. The entire operation had to be shut down after organizers ran into trouble locking in all of the talent.
Live Nation and Niche announced in a joint statement that Haze pulling out over scheduling conflicts and 2 Chainz unable to get a visa due to a prior court case "led to a change of venues in some markets."
The absence of two big names disappointed fans as the "event no longer reflected what had been advertised." Thus promoters had no choice but to cancel the whole thing, stating that they took "their commitment to deliver the events as advertised very seriously."
All ticket buyers will be fully refunded.
