ScHoolBoy Q, A$AP Rocky Forming Supergroup?
ScHoolboy Q shared some of his plans for the Oxymoron album in a recent interview with XXL, which just put him on their Freshman Class cover. The Interscope/Aftermath release will include features from Pharrell (“if he don’t charge me $2 million”), A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and his Black Hippy brethren Ab-Soul. It will also include a return to one of Q’s favorite themes.
"We’ve got a ‘Druggys Wit H--s Part 3′ — ‘Druggys Wit H--s Trois,’" he revealed. “I’ma make one of them [records] forever, as long as I’m rapping." Q made the first edition of the song on his 2011 independent debut Setbacks, explaining the concept thus: "I'm out here drugging and I'm not even trying to f--k with h--s." His 2012 followup, Habits & Contradictions, included "Druggys Wit H--s Again." Both songs included choruses so filthy that we can’t print them here.
But Q’s not planning to stop with a trilogy. "We may even do an album together," he said. "We’ve been talking about it – call that whole s--t Druggys Wit H--s. We may do it. Me and Rocky may do a project together, too. We’ve been talking about it, too. I’m just waiting to get this album out and just see what happens. As of right now, I don’t now. After this album, s--t, I want to work with both the homies. I want to do a project with Soul and I want to do one with Rocky. Maybe we can even put our own little group together – me, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown and Rocky."
Black Hippy is the hottest crew in hip hop at the moment, with Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock bringing west coast rap to the forefront once again. When Kendrick was asked about the Black Hippy album recently, he said fans will have to wait for that. "Right now, we’re really focusing on ScHoolboy Q, his album’s coming out," he explained. "Ab-Soul’s is, Jay Rock’s, so right now, it’s a little bit further back than expected because there’s so much going on with the individual acts. So right now it’s about ScHoolboy Q, then we’ll probably work on figuring out Black Hippy."
ScHoolboy will be performing at the Staples Center on Saturday June 29 along with Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Miguel. No word on the rest of the “Druggys with H--s” click.
