Evan Ross Calls Stepson 'A Blessing in My Life'
Evan Ross is one lucky guy. Not only is the actor newly married to singer Ashlee Simpson, but he’s embraced a stepson into his life and his mother, Diana Ross, made sure that his wedding this past fall was extra special. During a recent appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Ross opened up about life as a newlywed, fatherhood, and his mom’s role in his wedding.
“She is incredible, she handled the whole thing. Her and Ashlee’s mom, Tina, pretty much put the whole thing together. It was unbelievable,” Ross said about his mother’s involvement in the wedding preparations. She even officiated the wedding and cried during the ceremony. And yes, she did sing, but she made sure it was a special treat just for the newlyweds.
“We actually didn’t know she was going to perform. She actually told us, ‘Evan, stop telling people I might perform.’ She sang ‘Endless Love’ for us, which was amazing. Just to us two. It was really amazing,” he said.
Now with stepson Bronx Mowgli, Simpson’s son with rocker Pete Wentz, in his life, Ross has been enjoying fatherhood ahead of expecting his first child (a girl!) with Simpson.
“It’s amazing. I can’t tell you how incredible that child is,” Ross said. “He’s unbelievable. He’s been a blessing in my life, and I’ve learned so much from him. He was excited [when Ashlee and I got married] because he was my friend. We became like homies, buddies. He was excited. He was at the wedding and we were like, ‘This is as much your wedding as it is ours.’ And he loves Mama D, so it’s cool.”
As for what they’ll name their daughter when she arrives this year, Ross said it won’t be anything weird.
“We have a few ideas, but we’re keeping that for us,” he said. “No, it’s not going to be [a Hollywood baby name like] Apple, Orange or anything like that. We got some ideas. It’s going to be different, though.”
