According to TMZ, initially police received a call reporting some sort of altercation that occurred outside of a home located in the Hollywood Hills area around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday (July 12).

Witnesses told the police people were arguing in an SUV before gunshots went off in the air. The vehicle reportedly fled the scene. Cops reportedly tracked down Larenz’s car based on descriptions provided by witnesses. 

Megan Thee Stallion was also reportedly in the vehicle.

The “Say It” rapper was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. 

The 27-year-old was released after posting his $35,000 bail, according to KCAL 9.

He is scheduled to appear in court on October 13.

Lanez has yet to publicly comment on the arrest. 

Most recently, he released the latest installment of his New Toronto mixtape series, New Toronto 3, in April 2020. 

In an interview with Billboard, Lanez said that he's been receiving “life-changing” offers from labels, but he wants to retain his independence.
“To be 100 percent, there's so many labels offering me so much money -- like millions of dollars,” Lanez said, who gained even more of a following with his wildly popular Quarantine Radio series. “I've gotten offers that are life-changing offers, but I don't care. I already own my masters and publishing and everything. So I don't see any reason to give that to somebody else.”
