Snoop Dogg's 'Gin and Juice' Gets A Quarantine Remix
People have spent more time on social media since it’s one of the few things that hasn’t been disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic. With more time on their hands, some have been digging deep to keep us uplifted and a number of songs are being remixed into coronavirus anthems.
In March, disco legend Gloria Gaynor refitted her 1978 hit “I Will Survive” into a catchy jingle to raise awareness for people to wash their hands to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Megan Thee Stallion remixed her summer hit “Hot Girl Summer” to bring her fans some much-needed humor amid the new reality we’re gonna remain indoors for quite some time. Now, Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice” is the latest to get the treatment.
Last week, a TikToker video from @Chrisrenois put a COVID-19 spin on the Doggfather’s 1993 classic. In 56 seconds, the @Chrisrenois eloquently raps about how he’s keeping his boredom at bay while passing time in self-quarantine over the Dr. Dre-produced funk-infused instrumentals.
“With so much drama in CDC, it’s kind of hard being B-O-R-E-D / But I, somehow, some way, keep coming up with random a** s**t just to get me through the day / May I post a lil’ something on IG and make a few friends as I breeze through / Two in the morning and my Xbox still jumping ‘cause my mama ain’t home,” the TikToker raps. In the closing bit of the video, the TikToker reminds us all to stay indoors and quarantine.
