Kanye West Won't Be Performing Old Music Now That 'Jesus Is King' Is Out
After months of delays, Jesus Is King has arrived as promised, and it might also mark the turn of a new leaf for Kanye West as far as his music is concerned.
In a new interview with Real 92.3’s Big Boy Friday morning (Oct. 25), the Chicago rapper said Christian themes will be heavily prevalent in his new music going forward. Throughout the conversation, Ye touched on how his spirituality will manifest in his career going forward in music, fashion and other ventures.
Big Boy wondered if that meant Kanye will no longer continue performing any of his old music given its secular nature, especially now that he’s a born-again Christian. Kanye quickly agreed his music will be different from here on out, before he clarified that the Old Ye won’t completely be gone. He will still play updated versions of his old music with the same beats.

“They made movies about Steve Jobs so y'all could understand who I am. Now, when you go to the Apple store, I don't be seeing no iPod 4,” he said, to which Big Boy laughed. “Take you to eBay and get you the old Kanye and get you a vintage iPod 4 while you're at it, get you a Sega 8-bit.”
He continued: “We can play that beat. I’m just gonna adjust it. Even when I do Jesus Walks, I [would] say we ain’t trying to turn atheists into believers. Now, I say we are turning atheists into believers. It be all off-beat and everything. I be like, ‘Yup, there you go.’ He can make it all good for him. He meaning, specially, Jesus Christ. You don’t get it mixed up with green juice and Air One. You don’t get it mixed up with yoga.”
Here’s what else he had to say in the interview below:
On his support for Donald Trump
“Last year, ya’ll tried to tell me who I’m supposed to vote for because I’m Black. Now this year, white liberals trying to tell me who I’m supposed to vote for because I’m Christian. It’s just based on y'all's vision of what I’m supposed to do. It’s not a matter of whether you like it or who like it. We are a country where we are allowed to like what we like.”

Y'all dealing with grandpa now. I done been through too much. I'm the founder of a $3 billion company. You think I'm finna listen to somebody online tell me who I'm supposed to apologize for?"
On doing everything for God instead of 'the culture' now
“This is one of my main things. What is the culture? We are orphans, bro. We are cultureless. We don’t have our own culture.Taking the knee is culture. Being on social media is culture. Wearing high fashion is culture. Pushing a foreign is culture. All of these things is not owned by our culture. So who designed the culture? What does it mean to do it for the culture? That’s why I do it for Christ.”
On cancel culture
"I'm only afraid of my daddy, God. I done been 15 years. I'm telling you that God is showing you that you can have your own thoughts, bro. I been canceled before there was cancel culture. People trying to son me left and right. I’ve been canceled before they had cancel culture. I’ve done been killed so many times I’m social media and I’m still here.”
