Yung Miami Just Dropped JT’s Jail Release Date, And City Girls Are Going Crazy
The City Girls are about to be back in full form.
The Miami rap duo has been riding a massive wave of success in the past year after the release of their debut album, Girl Code, in November 2018 that delivered the global City Girls anthem, “Act Up.”
Yung Miami has been holding the group down and repping the rap duo while her counterpart, Jatavia “JT” Johnson, finishes out her prison bid. #FreeJT has rung loud and clear in the streets of social media ever since she was locked up, and it seems the Miami rapper is poised to make her return sooner than expected.
Although the Miami-born rapper had a release date slated on March 21, 2020, according to a report from Billboard, there have been unofficial reports of the 26-year-old getting out of prison ahead of schedule around December.
This past June, Quality Control founder and CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas said at the 2019 BET Live Experience that JT was getting out of jail within the next three months.
On Monday (Aug. 19), Yung Miami dropped some new details as to when JT will be released from jail. After posting a picture of the rap duo promoting their label’s Control the Streets 2019 follow-up on Instagram, a fan asked Miami for a hint as to when JT will be back. Miami responded, writing “a couple of days.”
For fans who missed the memo, the 25-year-old posted a photo of the duo from their Girl Code era in a second post where she promised fans they just had to wait a “couple more days” until JT is back home.
“We gone keep smashing, Keep cashing, diamonds keep flashing, money keep stacking Couple more days & we back acting up!,” she captioned the post.

Based on Pee and Miami’s timeline, it looks like JT could be out by sometime early September, at the latest. Nonetheless, City Girls are ready to act up once the rap duo is whole again.
We will keep you posted on any further updates. Check out the latest reactions to news of JT’s release.
