Hollywood Signs Petition To Free A$AP Rocky Amid Reported Inhumane Jail Conditons
Amid Harlem-raised rap star A$AP Rocky’s aggravated assault charge and arrest in Sweden, the outcome of a brutal street fight captured on video, new reports claim that Pretty Flacko is suffering the ugliest of conditions while held behind bars.
TMZ reports that Rocky’s sleep conditions, which are reduced to a yoga mat without so much as a blanket, aren’t even the worst of them. According to their “sources with direct knowledge of Rocky’s situation,” he’s up against a fellow prisoner who throws around feces (which prison staff allegedly doesn’t clean up) and slams his head against a concrete wall. Food is inedible, water is polluted and the facility is “disease ridden,” presumably leading A$AP to only be fed with an apple a day for his first five days in the facility, TMZ continues.
The short fall of A$AP’s luck reportedly doesn’t end there, either. TMZ adds that an official tasked to handle his case from the U.S. Consulate came to meet with him, but was promptly denied access upon arrival. The site points out that this is a violation of the Vienna Convention for Consular Relations treaty (signed by both Sweden and the U.S.), which grants foreign arrestees a visit from a U.S. Consulate official. While no explanation was reported for why he was denied, TMZ’s sources cite the atrocious conditions of the prison as the actual reason they refused him entry.

Eventually (as in two days later), A$AP was finally able to meet with the official, but “only in the presence and earshot of two Swedish guards,” the site emphasizes, stripping him of his right to a private conversation about his personal legal matters. Now, A$AP’s team is working diligently to involve the State Department for his release, as concluded by TMZ.
Additionally, the hip-hop community is rallying together to free their brother-in-rhyme, A$AP Rocky.
A petition urging Swedish officials to release Rocky has garnered over 360,000 signatures in one day. On Tuesday (July 9), the A$AP Mob banded together and started the petition titled #JusticeForRocky on Change.org. In it, they are calling for Swedish authorities to free Rocky from their custody. They also detailed the alleged inhumane conditions Rocky is reportedly being held under.
“To keep Rocky and his colleagues in jail pending the lengthy trial proceedings is a punishment before the fact, with no due process,” the petition concluded.
Numerous celebrities have joined in on championing the cause and calling for his immediate release. 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Miguel, and Jada Pinkett Smith are a few of the stars who have shared the petition online, encouraging their followings to sign it. Fashion label GUESS, who previously shared a fashion collaboration with the Harlem rapper, also voiced their support on Instagram. The petition is steadily gaining momentum as more and more celebrities unite to put pressure on Swedish officials to let Rocky walk free.
