Queen Latifah Has Words For Nicki Minaj And Cardi B That Deserve A Standing Ovation

Both Bardi and Barbie need to hear this one.

Amid divisions and tensions between Queens rapstress Nicki Minaj and Bronx’s star rap rookie Cardi B growing thicker by the day, femcee royalty Queen Latifah’s arrival to the controversy is a breath of fresh air.

The “U.N.I.T.Y.” rapper dropped in for a morning talk show chat on Live With Kelly and Ryan where she gave her take on the explosive opposition between Nicki and Cardi. As a female rap talent famously championed for women empowerment and solidarity, it should come as no surprise that Queen isn’t joining the front row crowd in the Barbie versus Bardi showdown.

Instead, the New Jersey-native has a righteous declaration for the ladies (and all of the women in hip-hop’s femcee circle) that’s spoken like the true queen she is.

  • Kelly Ripa opens the conversation by suggesting that instead of clawing at each other, Nicki and Cardi should collaborate for the greater good of hip-hop

“I think that would be amazing,” Queen said. While she’s always down for a good “brouhaha,” she joked, that’s not what she wants to see happen between the Queens and Bronx femcees. “I have a lot of respect for female rappers, and we are such a powerful minority,” she continued. Female rappers have always stood out to her, and with the burgeoning success of both ladies, she would like to see them handle their competition in a more rewarding manner.

  • ‘I definitely don’t want to see them come to blows,’ Queen said

“I’d really rather see them shoot the fair one on a record and take everybody out, you know what I mean?”

She’d even be down to executive produce a record like that should the ladies ever agree to it. A femcee force-joining banger featuring two of the biggest chart-topping, record-breaking female rap talents and executively produced by the Queen Latifah herself?

Come on, ladies… there's no way you can pass this one up.

Listen to Queen’s thoughts on the rivalry below.
