DMX Receives A Break In His Case, But There's A Catch
After being in an out of the courthouse for the past couple of weeks, DMX has reportedly been taken off house arrest. X may be able to get some fresh air without restrictions, but to ensure that he stays on the straight and narrow, a judge has reportedly mandated that the rapper check into a treatment program for drugs, TMZ reports.
Fans first learned the rapper had reached a new low after he reportedly failed several drug tests, which was required as part of the terms of his probation. A judge reportedly signed off on X entering an inpatient facility for substance abuse this week in exchange for not having to wear an ankle monitor anymore, according to TMZ.
DMX has struggled with drug abuse throughout his career, but the Ruff Ryders artist’s lawyer, Murray Richman, said his drug usage had become “impossible” to manage. Just days before his house arrest was lifted, a judge also granted the rapper permission to travel for business purposes. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the order is still in place as long as he travels with a “sober coach.” But it is unclear if X will cancel his appearances altogether as he starts his journey to recovery.
