The story of what happened between Jhene Aiko and husband Dot Da Genius has been pretty one-sided publicly to this point.

Jhene has spoken out and accused Dot of being abusive and sort of denied the claims that the split had to do with her very public and fluid working chemistry with Big Sean, which almost broke the internet recently when the two kissed on-stage.

Now, Dot Da Genius is speaking out. Taking to Instagram late last night (August 15) he denied being abusive in any way and says his delayed response to the accusations was in concern for privacy about their situation.

"Because my nature [is] peaceful, I’ve been silent out of respect for all involved, and to maintain my privacy," he wrote in a note posted to the social media site. "However, I believe the truth must be heard, which is that I’ve never been violent or abusive towards any woman in my life. Such behavior is abhorrent to me and far from how I conduct myself. Moving forward, I will continue to focus on my family, friends, and music, and soon enough the entire truth shall come to light.”

Jhene Aiko filed for divorce last week. Her marriage to Dot Da Genius only lasted just under a year as Aiko cited “irreconcilable differences” on her divorce filing. She also asked that the judge deny Dot any spousal support.
