Whoopi Goldberg Checked Meghan McCain On ‘The View’ And Twitter Was Watching With Popcorn
It’s no secret that Meghan McCain often finds herself at odds with the rest of her co-hosts on The View, but today’s (October 29) episode revealed one of the table’s most heated exchanges.
The ladies were discussing Hillary Clinton’s recent claim that Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard was being “groomed” by Russians to run as a third-party candidate and would champion their interests.
The primary back-and-forth was between McCain and Joy Behar with Meghan arguing that Clinton’s assertion was similar to “McCarthyism.”
As things began to escalate, Whoopi Goldberg interjected while McCain was talking, asking everyone to “just take a breath.”
“Everybody has something to say at the table, we really do want to hear from everybody, but we’re starting to do that thing,” Goldberg said.
“I don’t know what that means,‘that thing,'” McCain replied.
“It means you’re talking over each other,” Goldberg explained.
“Well, it’s The View,” McCain argued.
“It is The View. You know what, let me tell you something about The View,” Goldberg said as she shifted in her seat. “This show has always had the ability to have different points of view, which we respect around the table. And when we talk to each other, we also exhibit respect. So when I’m saying to you, ‘Hold up, because we’re not hearing each other,’ I’m not trying to cut you off — I’m trying to get you heard.”
With McCain continuously trying to interrupt Whoopi, Goldberg eventually cut to commercial.
The heated exchange caught the eye of Twitter, who had some pretty interesting takes on it.
