Wendy Williams Says One Thing Is Off Limits When It Comes To Talking About Her Ex-Husband
Wendy Williams has discussed her divorce on her own talk show and on several radio shows, but she recently stopped by The View to give her first television interview detailing the ending of her marriage.
The newly single talk show host stopped by the panel show on Thursday morning (Sept. 5) and didn't hold back while explaining why she chose to kick her husband of nearly 22 years, Kevin Hunter, to the curb.
"Infidelity is one thing, a full baby is a whole 'nother topic," she said. "A baby. I'm not changing Pampers, I wanna be pampered! I learned from my mother how to make lemons into lemonade... What am I supposed to do, stay in the house and cry all day?"
Williams was also asked about her decision to enter a sober house in the midst of the drama within her marriage, and while she's previously explained that she did so strictly to get away from the mess, she now added that it turned out to be the perfect time for her to plot her exit.
"It's been a very, very difficult time. I couldn't talk to my mom. Who wants to burden her?" she said of her time away. "I couldn't talk to my sister, and most of my girlfriends would've said, 'You should've left him a long time ago.' But, here's the deal: I'm not a selfish mom, and I'm a very 'plotative' individual. I will plot on you, and that's why I'm going into season 11 [of The Wendy Williams Show] and he's changing Pampers."
Despite her husband's infidelity, Williams stands by her decision to not "trash talk" her ex in public.
"I save that for when I get back to my bachelorette pad," she joked. "It's not just about young Kevin [their son]. Kevin's not a bad man — big Kev, he's not a bad man. You just can't throw away 25 years and then start talking recklessly about the other person. What does that say about you? I chose him and he chose me. That's the way it is."
