After starring in the recent box office success Transcendence, veteran actor Cory Hardrict is showing no signs of slowing down as he was just cast in the new sci-fi thriller Spectral.

Produced by Legendary Pictures, the film is set to star James Badge Dale alongside Hardrict and boasts writing from Ian Fried and production from Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni. Jillian Share and Guy Riedel serve as executive producers for the film with Sophia Sikora overseeing production.

The actor explained his elation to BET.com, sharing that he is ready to tackle the heavy-hiting action scenes head-on.

"I'm really excited to be part of Spectral," he said. "We're about to start production and I'm focusing on my fitness. Luckily, coming out of American Sniper, I should be ready for the demanding action scenes."

Hardrict, who has been married to actress Tia Mowry for six years now, recently wrapped production on the highly anticipated Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper, also starring The Hangover's Bradley Cooper. Hardrict is also currently starring in the indie drama Brotherly Love and Car Dogs alongside Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer.

An official release date for Spectral has not yet been announced.
