Kanye West Signs Nigerian Acts
Word on the street is Kanye West just signed two international additions to his G.O.O.D. Music label, reports RapFix. If true, popular Nigerian artists D'Banj and Don Jazzy would be joining a roster full of top names like Kid Cudi, John Legend and Pusha T.
On June 8, D'Banj, whose real name is Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo tweeted the news saying, "Just like yesterday myself and my brother did Tongolo. 7yrs later Mo' Hits signs with Good Music. Best birthday gift ever. God thank u." His debut hit "Tongolo" was produced by Don Jazzy, head of Nigerian indie Label Mo' Hits Records. D'Banj, the label's star, debuted in 2005 with No Long Thing and has since released three more albums and collborated with Snoop Dogg on the title track of his most recent album Mr. Endowed. He won an MTV Europe Music Award in 2007 and several MTV Africa Music Awards.
Though West's camp has yet to confirm the news, Don Jazzy took to Twitter to answer questions about the signing and tweeted a photo of the producer standing with West and Jay-Z.
