Inmate Tries to Get Gucci Out of Jail
A South Carolina inmate wants to help Gucci Mane get out of jail.
La Flare was busted back in September for weapons possession, and a fellow prisoner, Jerry Lewis Dedrick, is trying to ease the embattled rapper's legal strife.
Dedrick, who is serving time in a Williamsburg federal facility, was not asked to give Gucci any assistance. Nonetheless, he put together a hand-written motion that apparently "rambles on" about why gun possession isn't a federal offense. (It is in the case of former felons, like Gooch).
Since the 51-year-old isn't an actual member of Gucci's legal counsel, and therefore cannot file paperwork on his behalf, Dedrick wants to send his argument to the 34-year-old rapper's lawyers. His findings, he hopes, will lampoon the case against Gucci, and all will be back to normal.
The chances of that happening could be very slim, however. Gucci is facing up to 20 years due to his criminal history. Last December, prosecutors slapped him with two offenses, one which involves threatening authorities.
And he hasn't fared well in his business dealings either. Atlantic Records and manager Kevin "Coach K" Lee both parted ways with him in September, he alienated just about all of his industry friends with one long Twitter rant, sued ex-manager Debra Antney for running his career, and has gotten into various altercations with fans.
Despite his incarceration and career troubles, however, Gucci is still committed to his music. His latest effort is a remix to the Rick Ross and Jeezy collaboration "War Ready."
