BlackBerry Services Restored
For BlackBerry users around of the world, the nightmare is finally over.
After three days of service disruptions, Research in Motion has announced that it has restored full BlackBerry services and that users should be receiving e-mail and text messaging as normal.
The company advised on Thursday that some BlackBerry users might need to remove their batteries and restart their phones to reactivate automatic syncing.
The glitch was announced on Monday and hit networks in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa before heading to the U.S. and the rest of North America on Wednesday. RIM confirmed it was the largest system outage BlackBerry has ever experienced.
The company said a problem with system hardware caused a backlog of data to clog its European servers. It is still working to learn why backup systems failed to kick in.
