Tyler Perry Talks Pregnancy Scare
In an interview with Ebony magazine, filmmaker Tyler Perry opened up about how he wished to leave his fortune and his legacy to his offspring…a discussion that lead him to come clean about the possibilities of that happening.
According to Perry, there’s a new lady in his life that could make that a possibility. “She’s really, really special,” he said about this special someone without revealing her identity. “It’s the longest relationship I’ve been in.”
On the subject of possibly having kids to leave his empire to, Tyler said: “This isn’t the reason to have children, but it would be really sad to work this hard to build something and not be able to pass it on to my junior, to my sons, to my daughters.”
But the movie mogul also discussed the fear he had when he thought he was about to become a dad last year. “Back in December, when we thought we were having a kid,” he revealed. “I got a little overwhelmed. Now, I got overwhelmed when I first got a dog because I knew I was responsible for this living creature. So think how I reacted to the thought of having a child."
No word was given on any other plans for another attempt at fatherhood. But, of course, in the interview there was a discussion of his harsh words of “go straight to hell” to Spike Lee, a move he now says he regrets.
“I’m going to be more respectful of him and his family,” Tyler told Ebony. “I believe Spike can do what he does and I can do what I do.… There’s room for more than one of us in every industry and the moment we embrace that as a society, we can get past all this stuff.”
