And the 2016 Oscars Host Is... Chris Rock!
It's round two for Chris Rock. He has been confirmed to host the Oscars for a second time. E! Online reports that the award show's producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin shared the news on Wednesday. Hill and Hudlin praised the actor/comedian, explaining why he is the perfect choice for the prestigious gig.
"Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry," they said in a statement. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian — he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!" The Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs shared Hill and Hudlin's sentiments, adding, "We share David and Reggie's excitement in welcoming Chris, whose comedic voice has really defined a generation. He is certain to bring his amazing array of talents to this year's show."
The Top Five actor hosted the 77th Oscars 10 years ago in 2005.
"I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars," he said. "It's great to be back."
The 88th Academy Awards will broadcast live from the Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood on Sunday, February 28, 2016, on ABC.
