Originally, Bobby Shmurda's case was set to go to trial next Thursday on June 25.

But the rapper's attorney, Kenneth Montgomery, thinks we're a long ways from that happening. Speaking with BET.com on Friday, Montgomery said by the sheer volume of the 13 defendants involved — including Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel and their GS9 affiliates — there's still too much preliminary information and discoveries that haven't been unturned as of yet that will most likely adjourn the case to a later date.

"There's 13 defendants in the conspiracy case, each of them charged with different underlying charges and conduct and the government just ordered swabs from my guy and it takes time to get the swabs done, DNA wise...there's other issues and more discoveries to come, so I suspect on the 25 that the case is going to be adjourned for some time, which is more realistic going forward," Montgomery told BET.com. 

Montgomery added that the start date of the trial could happen during the fall "at the earliest." He maintained his previous position, stating that Shmurda and Rebel, in particular, are rappers that the government wants to make examples out of.

"Obviously him and Rowdy are two people who the government is going to take a hard position saying, 'You know what? We're not offering them anything or we're going to offer them something extremely high to put them in a trial posture because of the publicity of the case,'" he continued.

Montgomery said that although rappers might shout Shmurda out, it's not realistic to look to them for financial support — only moral.

"Culturally, he's had a big impact on the scene He has an attachment to the street and people are enthused by that," Montgomery said of the "Hot N***a" rapper. "We got to distinguish the effects of him on the culture and what are you expecting these people to do. Unless you have financial property in the sum of the $2 million (Shmurda's bail amount), there's really nothing you can do. You can give moral support."

Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, Rebel and members of their GS9 crew are charged with a litany of counts, including conspiracy, murder, drugs and weapon charges.
