Meek Mill Responds to His Miami Ban From Trick Daddy
Things got unexpectedly hostile after Trick Daddy caught wind of Meek Mill’s likely unintentional snub of Miami, where the Philly rap star commented on his Dreamchasers influence over some Miami rap rich traditions, such as Miami yacht and Cuban links flexing.
Even though another Miami rap veteran, Uncle Luke, sent a secondary nod behind Trick to remind Meek of the OGs that birthed Miami’s luxury hip-hop nuances, the Wins and Losses artist is apparently unbothered because he believes in a different way of going about the subject matter.
During his interview on his Philly home turf’s Power 99 radio station, Meek chopped it up with Cosmic Kev about the controversy, over which Trick took to Instagram for a contentious message aimed at the MMG signee. With all due respect, Kev didn’t understand why Meek’s comments were taken so personal. And according to Meek, the OGs he grew up around handled their personal matters off of social media, so there wasn’t much to respond to him with.
“I come from Philadelphia. All our OGs, they don’t get on Instagram where we’re from,” he responded. “And If they wanna say something to somebody, they get in contact with them and they say it to them. Especially when it’s that type of level of anger. I worked hard on this album. I don’t think you should be able to go on Instagram and just rant and go crazy and then just be mentioned in an interview.”
Shouting out his fresh studio release, Wins and Losses, Meek said he’s cold-shouldering any distractions and negativity as he’s celebrating the third studio album.
“I’m trying to win. I ain’t really trying to talk about negativity,” he said. “All I always say is: everybody in the industry knows there’s only one way to handle Meek Mill when you see him. This is for everybody in the rap industry – from here on until a thousand years – when you see people flip out on the internet about me, I will always be handled with respect in live person. That’s just that.”
Despite being on the forefront of several public controversies, racking up a substantial amount of adversaries along the way, Meek added that he’s a man of no regrets.
So there’s that, everyone.
