Garcelle Beauvais Recalls “Eerie” Encounter With Bill Cosby
Actress and author Garcelle Beauvais has revealed more details from her new book, Love Me As I Am, which has stopped people in their tracks.
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, The Jamie Foxx Show alum recounted an encounter with Bill Cosby. In 1984, the model-turned-actress had a small role on The Cosby Show when she was only 18 years old.
In her memoir, she writes how she felt strange when entering his home.
“I felt like when I got to his brownstone, I wasn’t the only one there besides him,” she said to Bevy Smith on her SiriusXM show, Bevelations. “There was something eerie about not knowing if there’s anybody else in the house and then having, you know, him asking me if I wanna drink, and I wasn’t a drinker. So it was all those things. And then something told me, ‘Get out of there.’ And that’s exactly what I did.”
Beauvais wrote about her moment with Cosby for her book instead of talking about it when Cosby’s various sexual assault allegations surfaced because she didn’t want to appear as if she was capitalizing on the moment for personal gain.
“You know, my kids were little [back then], and my divorce [from Mike Nilon was happening at the time], I didn’t want to drag them into it. And I felt like I didn’t have anything concrete,” she said. “It would’ve been me just piling on, and I wouldn’t want people to think that I just wanted to be part of that and have my name out there. I included it in the book because it was…part of listening to your gut.”
Since then, Cosby has been convicted of sexual assault and drugging. However, his conviction was overturned in June on a technicality.
