Jamie Foxx: Martin Scorsese Is Directing the Mike Tyson Biopic
After winning an Oscar for his portrayal of the legendary Ray Charles in Ray, Jamie Foxx is gearing up to tackle the role of another icon on the big screen: Mike Tyson. Speaking with Power 105's The Breakfast Club, Foxx revealed that the highly anticipated biopic is well underway.
Calling into the popular morning radio show, the actor solidified the rumors that the biopic was indeed happening, confirming speculation that he was set to play the famed boxer. Explaining the surreal meeting to Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee, Foxx was clearly excited about the film.
"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson," he said. "So, I'm going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I'm on the other side and doing the Mike Tyson at the same time."
He then went on to reveal that acclaimed director Martin Scorsese will be spearheading the film: "This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull," Foxx said.
Neither Scorsese nor Paramount have confirmed the news just yet.
