Group of Children Find Black Man's Severed Head Near His Burned Body In Mississippi
A Black man’s severed head was discovered by children in Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday morning (June 10) and it may or may not be connected to a burned out torso, also found under a mile away just hours later.
Authorities are investigating the two crime scenes, according to WLBT. Both remains have been identified as being a Black male, however it’s uncertain whether they’re from the same person.
A cause of death hasn’t yet been fully determined because even if the man’s head was cut off, he could’ve been dead prior to the severance. The Hinds County Coroner was sent to the scene and investigators are in the process of trying to identify the dead man or men.
“Obviously, rage was an ingredient, perhaps some type of message sending,” Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance said. “I have never seen anything to occur where a head has been torn or cut from a body.”
It isn’t certain whether the homeowners, on whose front porch the head was found, knew the identity of the man or not.
