Raven-Symoné Admits She Has Asked All Former Dates To Sign an NDA

The former child star said it was her parents who first encouraged her to start the practice.

Dating a celebrity comes with strings attached. In fact, it might even come with an iron-clad contract.

In a new interview, former child star Raven-Symoné revealed that she has required everyone she has dated in the past to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

The 37-year-old star shared the information with Howie Mandel who interviewed her for his podcast, “Howie Does Stuff,” according to PEOPLE.

“All of my relationships, especially, obviously, when I started dating, I had to get people to sign NDAs,” she said, adding, “It took me a while to wrap my head around it because it’s very impersonal, but someone in our position needs to do that."

NDAs, or non-disclosure agreements, are legally enforceable contracts that create a confidential relationship between a person who has sensitive information and a person who will gain access to that information. A confidential relationship means one or both parties have a duty not to share that information.

Digging further into the story, an intrigued Mandel asked her at what point in the dating process she would present her dates with the paperwork, and she said with a laugh, “Before the naughty times come.”

In between laughs, she repeated, “No, I’m serious — right before naughty time comes.”

Raven-Symoné has been married to Miranda Pearman-Maday since 2020, and she revealed that when they first got together, Pearman-Maday was less than eager to sign the agreement.

"We were in New York. We were in this outdoor French type of restaurant, and my mom had been bugging me,” Raven-Symoné said. "She was like, ‘You got to get it signed.’ I'm like, ‘She's from the industry.’ And my mom was bugging me."

She added, “I was really reluctant because I knew something was different about Miranda.”

Pearman-Maday, who works in fashion, was apparently reluctant. “She's like, ‘I don't understand’ because she knew that we had something different, like it just feels different right," acknowledged Raven-Symoné.

“We both were like, ‘This takes away the genuineness of it all, but we also understood that we live in Hollywood,'" the Disney star said, adding, "She knows who she is. So she did it.”

“Welcome to being a celebrity in Hollywood nowadays,” she joked before adding, ”It's true though nowadays, hashtags, real life, they change the dynamic of having an intimate relationship with somebody.”
