Turn Down For What? Rihanna And Her All-Female ‘Ocean’s 8’ Squad Made Box Office History
The Rihanna-featured, all-woman-cast film, Ocean's 8, is already confirmed to be a box office splash, as it is reported that it is set to snag the No. 1 spot with a $35 to $40 million debut.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is set to outsell current chart-topper Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The movie, which is an offshoot of the massively popular Ocean's Eleven series, features a who's who of top-notch female talent including the likes of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Awkwafina and, of course, Rihanna. In the film, the ladies pose as eight expert thieves who are on a jewelry heist at the Met Gala.
Complex reports that Ocean's 8's opening numbers fall in line with the last film's weekend launch, which raked in $36.1 million domestically back in 2007. Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Eleven both debuted with $39.2 million and $38.1 million, respectively.
Ocean's 8 arrives in theaters on June 8.
