Ne-Yo Reveals His Thoughts on Polyamory and Setting Relationship Limits
Ne-Yo recently opened up about his polyamorous relationship.
During a quick conversation with TMZ in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (Aug. 20), the R&B singer, who confirmed in April that he was in a relationship with multiple women, was asked about his two girlfriends and whether that was the "cap" on the number of polyamorous relationships he plans to have. “No specific cap, just depends on who I vibe with and who vibes with me," he said.
He shrugged at the possibility of having many. "As many as you can afford," he added. Polyamory refers to the practice of engaging in multiple intimate relationships, whether sexual or romantic, with the informed consent of everyone involved. Ne-Yo has seven children and was once married to Crystal Renay from 2016 to 2023.
During the interview, the reporter noted that Omarion recently revealed he's been celibate for three years and asked Ne-Yo if he would ever consider doing the same. "I’m certain that that was a spiritual decision," the "So Sick" hitmaker said. "So congrats to him. Don’t know if I could do it, but congrats to him."
As previously reported by BET, during an interview with André Duqum’s Know Thyself podcast, Omarion explained how his celibacy journey affected his physical and mental health. “That was an interesting time,” the “Post To Be” singer said. “I kinda took it on as a challenge… When I decided to become celibate, it was because I was really just searching for something more for myself.”
He continued, “At the time, I was practicing Christianity. I was really studying my Bible, and ultimately, it wasn’t for me, but it allowed me to kinda step out of this world and have the responsibility of being a sex symbol and a young adult. In hindsight, it was preparing me for my contribution to music, me being integral in my words and what I’m saying — not having to live a double life.”
