Cassie Talks Style and Music in Nylon Magazine
Fresh off a sexy spread in Vibe magazine Cassie posed for Nylon magazine's July “Music Issue” sporting denim, shorts and sneakers.
In the article she talked about her upcoming music and her style, sharing how she transitioned from being a model to a musician. “I started modeling at the age of 12. Then I moved to New York City where I met Ryan Leslie through friends and started recording. We did three demos and one of them was “Me and U.” At the time Myspace was booming and the song took off. Then it was number one and it stayed there for six weeks.”
She’s gearing up for her next album, which she describes as “a cool blend of pop, hip hop and ska. It’s urban Gwen Stefani meets Aaliyah.”
Her style has remained pretty consistent over the years, edged up with her infamous half-shaved hairdo. Clothing-wise she said she’s in a “tomboy phase” right now: “I wear my Jordans and flannel shirts,” she said, adding that she can’t live without her favorite black leather Balmain pants. “They have a rip at the knee that I have never fixed and I will never throw them out.”
We’ve seen a lot of Cassie in photo shoots this year. Do you think her new album will be as fierce as the photos? Sound off in the comments!
