Charlie Sheen to Get Roasted on Comedy Central
Charlie Sheen will be returning to TV this fall. Though instead of making you laugh, the troubled actor will be getting laughed at, and roasted, on Comedy Central.
The former Two and a Half Men star, who’s had one turbulent year, will be the guest of honor for the network’s roast, which will tape on September 10. The ceremony will air on September 19, coincidentally the same evening the CBS comedy premieres with new cast member Ashton Kutcher (who was hired to replace him). While both shows won’t be competing against each other—the roast will air at 10 p.m. while Two and a Half Men will broadcast at 9 p.m.—the roast’s timeslot has some speculating that its scheduling is a scheme to capitalize on public curiosity over how Kutcher will do in Sheen’s slot. Moreover, Comedy Central will be banking on folks’ downright curiosity about Sheen’s behavior at the roast.
"You could say I've been providing kindling for this roast for a while," Sheen said in a statement. "It's time to light it up. It's going to be epic."
"Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off-limits in this roast,” said Kent Alterman, head of programming and production for Comedy Central, “which scares even us.”
No word yet on who the guests for the roast will be.
