Protesters Rally Worldwide for National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality

The 19th annual day of action will address recent incidences of police violence, including the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

Dozens of protests will kick off in cities around the U.S., Canada and New Zealand on Wednesday to mark the 19th National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality.

Organized by the October 22 Coalition to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation, this day of action aims to “expose the epidemic of police brutality” and address recent incidences of police violence, including the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and the chokehold death of Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York.

"This year, in big cities and small towns, in the face of police brutality, repression, mass incarceration and the criminalization of youth we say, Let the spirit of Ferguson ignite hearts nationwide with an uncompromising passion for justice!” October 22 said in a statement.

Candlelight vigils, marches, film screenings, bike rides and more will take place in a number of locations from Oct. 22 through Oct. 25. For a complete list of assembly points and contact information, visit the October 22 website.

Hands Up United, a group working to end police brutality and achieve justice for the Brown family, has also organized a “Twitter Storm” for Oct. 22 to pressure Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to appoint a special prosecutor in the ongoing investigation of Brown’s death.

"Enough is Enough @GovJayNixon! Stand up for justice and don't allow #BobMcCulloch to throw away #DarrenWilson's case. #IndictDarrenWilson,” reads a sample tweet provided by the group.

Watch Kevin Hart in a new episode of Real Husbands of Hollywood every Tuesday, 10P/9C.
