Anthony Mackie Convicted of Driving While Impaired
It seems as though Anthony Mackie's arguments against his DWI arrest were made in vain as the Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor has been officially convicted of driving while impaired on Friday (February 20).
According to the New York Daily News, Mackie was found guilty of the violation and was sentenced to complete a drunken driving program and pay fines following a bench trial in Manhattan Criminal Court. The original charge was made when the actor was pulled over on 126th Street and Lenox in November 2013 after making an illegal U-turn.
The verdict was made following a testimony from three NYPD witnesses. Despite the outcome, Mackie thanked Judge Kevin McGrath, saying, "Thank you, your honor, for the opportunity. Thank you for listening to the case and coming up with a fair conclusion. I wish everyone else had done the same."
In addition to his sentence and charges, the Pain & Gain actor will also lose his New York State driving privileges for 90 days. In the meantime Mackie will be filming a new film project in Louisiana where intoxicated driving counseling is also available.
