When friends and family gather to wish music legend Whitney Houston a final farewell on Saturday, Bobby Brown will be among those in attendance. It took some doing, but the R&B singer has been officially invited to his ex-wife’s funeral, according to a report from TMZ.

Divided on whether or not to issue an invite to Brown, the Houston family eventually decided that Whitney’s ex should be among the 300 or so guests at the private ceremony, which will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church in Houston’s hometown of Newark, NJ.

A Houston family source told TMZ, “At the last minute, the family felt that it would keep the peace at the funeral [to have Bobby there] ... even though some family members were against it.”

In the days following Houston’s death it was widely reported that Brown, who was married to the Grammy Award winning songstress from 1992 to 2007, was not in good favor with the Houston family. He was allegedly kept from seeing the couple’s 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, even after the teen was hospitalized following the death of her mother.

Despite the apparent turbulent relationship between Brown and the Houston clan, differences will be set aside as everyone bids farewell to Whitney. Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder will sing at the ceremony. Clive Davis, the music mogul responsible for discovering Houston, will speak at the service, which will be televised and streamed online.
