The Rev. Bernice King plans to announce her resignation as an elder at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church which is located in Lithonia, Georgia. The details will be presented later today in a radio interview.
According to a person who spoke anonymously, King’s departure, which had been planned previously, is not related to Bishop Eddie Long's settlement of four sexual misconduct lawsuits. Long is the pastor of New Birth.
Between 4 and 5:30 p.m. ET, Rev. King will be a guest on Praise 102.5 and will inform listeners about her decision and what she will do next.
