Brittney Griner's Wife, Cherelle Griner, Shows Off New Hairstyle
This week, Cherelle Griner, the wife of Brittney Griner, switched up her hair game in a major way.
The educator and attorney took to social media to show off her lovely new hairstyle — which is different from the protective styles she’s known to typically wear.
"Still can’t believe the majority of y’all thought I was going to get a silk press in August. Y’all see these temps, don’t disregard the force of Arizona’s summer like that!" Cherelle captioned an Instagram post about her new look.
Cherelle wrote in the IG post that she did her own makeup. Her fans and supporters cheered her on.
"That makeup is skinning girl. It looks like you have absolutely nothing on," said one follower. While another added, "It’s giving fireworks bc you POPPED OFF."
To say Cherelle Griner has been through a lot is an understatement. Cherelle stood by her wife Brittney’s side when she was detained in a Russian prison for nearly a year accused of drug smuggling.
Cherelle led the charge to engage fans and supporters and to speak regularly to The White House to #BringBrittneyHome.
Brittney Griner pleaded guilty to drug charges on July 7, 2022. But she testified that the vape cartridges were in her luggage mistakenly, and she didn’t intend to commit a crime. A Russian court sentenced Griner in August to nine years in prison.
Brittney is reportedly writing a book about her story.
Brittney's publisher, Alfred A. Knopf said, “Griner also describes her stark and surreal time living in a foreign prison and the terrifying aspects of day-to-day life in a women’s penal colony. At the heart of the book, Griner highlights the personal turmoil she experienced during the near ten-month ordeal and the resilience that carried her through to the day of her return to the United States last December.”
A two-time WNBA champion, Brittney Griner just returned to the court with the Phoenix Mercury. She recently missed two games as she focused on her mental health. Appearing in 20 games this season, Griner is averaging 18.2 points 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.
