Megan Thee Stallion Remixes ‘Hot Girl Summer’ Into Quarantine Anthem
In a lighter moment amid the global coronavirus pandemic, the Republic of China ended its 76-day lockdown of Wuhan on Wednesday (April 8), the first reported epicenter of the crisis. However, for the U.S., it appears shelter-in-place orders will hold for the foreseeable future as states wait for the virus to reach its peak and hopefully start to abate soon amid mitigation efforts.
The global coronavirus outbreak has marked an unprecedented time for many as this period of self-isolation continues. Last year around this time, we were all preparing for Hot Girl Summer, but the 2020 iteration for this season seems less likely with each passing day.
To uplift her fan’s spirits, the leader of the summertide movement Megan Thee Stallion hopped on Instagram Live where she remixed her summer hit, “Hot Girl Summer” into a quarantine bop while freestyling along to the original version.
“I can’t read your mind, gotta quarantine,” she begins. “Got a whole of options but that s**t stoppin / I’m on quarantine, so you know I ain’t boppin / It is what it is / B**ch, I’m sitting in the crib.”
She hilariously threw out some other lyrics pertaining to social-distancing, such as “And when we say it’s Hot Girl Summer, b**ch I’m talking quarantine,” and “Got Corona on your lip, you can’t get no kiss.”
In the dark of these trying times, Megan has been a ray of light for her fans. The 25-year-old rap star is staying busy by coming through with some entertainment and financial help for her fans that are struggling amid the coronavirus. That includes a generous donation to healthcare workers in her Houston hometown and her #HottiesAtHome initiative to encourage the hotties to practice self-quarantining and grant funds to her fans.
