Secretary of State Says, 'Americans Should Sleep Well at Night,' After Trump Threatened North Korea With 'Fire and Fury'
Although many people, particularly residents of Guam, are worried about the possible attacks from North Korea, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says there is nothing to fear.
During a surprise trip to the U.S. Territory of Guam, Tillerson said Americans should not be worried about any threats coming from North Korea, reported the New York Times.
“I think Americans should sleep well at night, have no concerns about this particular rhetoric of the last few days,” Tillerson said.
Tillerson's reassurance comes after President Trump threatened North Korea on Tuesday with "fire and fury like the world has never seen." In retaliation, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un singled out Guam on Wednesday as a potential target for attack.
On Tuesday, President Trump outlined what would happen if North Korea continues to make threats
"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Trump told reporters from the clubhouse of his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. “They will be met with fire and the fury like the world has never seen.”
After North Korea's threat to Guam, the territory's governor released a message telling his people not to be concerned
“I want to reassure the people of Guam that currently there is no threat to our island or the Marianas,” said Eddie Baza Calvo, the governor of Guam, in a statement on Wednesday.
After Trump's and Jong-Un's separate threats, people have started to worry about the safety of the nation
