We Asked 16 Men How Do They Feel About Being A 'Kept Man'

Arianna Grande, see what you started sis?

Successful women like Ariana Grande have given birth to the idea of the ‘”kept man”. Recently the pop megastar's fiancé Pete Davidson dropped a bomb implying that he earns his keep by being Ariana’s grocery stock clerk, in an interview for GQ, because he only “stocks the fridge” while living in her 16 million dollar condo. He added:

“She’s really sweet. She’s like, ‘This is our house,’ and I’m like, ‘You’re very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here,’ ” he joked. “She’s like, ‘We’re getting married!’ And I’m like, ‘I know, thank you for letting me stay here.’"

Damn, must be nice Pete. But does the idea of the “kept man” work in real-life and not just La-La land? We're not quite sure because Ariana’s fans roasted Pete like a chestnut on an open fire after the interview.

We asked real men if they would mind letting their lady hold it down financially and here's what they said:

  1. “Are straight men able to be kept?”

“So what exactly is a ‘kept-man’? Are straight men able to be kept? Why am I just finding out about this? My woman makes more than me. So all this time I could have been home chilling without judgment?” -Josh, 23

  2. “I like this idea.”

“The independent woman is now seen as sexier than ever these days. Finally, men are appreciating what they bring to the table and being humble about their power. I like this idea, but not for me fam.” -Jamie, 35

  3. “I had it before, and I loved it.”

“F**k yeah! I am a big ass baby. I had it before, and I loved it. I felt bad because I wasn’t working, but she didn’t want me to either. ” -Jeremy, 28

  5. “Yes.”

    “Yes!” -Al, 34

  6. "Next Thing You Know She Cuts Off Your Allowance"

“No, I can’t. Next thing you know she cuts off your allowance and kicks your ass out on the curb easily on her Martin ‘get to stepping' voice. Plus, what turns on women most is a man that holds it down financially.” -Ryan, 30

  7. “I’m the head of the house.”

“No, I just don’t wanna walk in those shoes because it turns me on to know I’m the head of the house.” -Trevor, 27

  9. “I’m the head of the house.”

“Nah, I am good on that. You see what happened to Pete after he said that joke, he deleted his Instagram because he was constantly getting negative comments." -Jon, 26

  10. “I would still work and get my own.”

“Hmmm, I would be able to be a kept man, but I would still work and get my own money and pursue dreams of mine. I wouldn’t just be kept and not do anything.” -Luis, 24

  11. “Sign me up now.”

“Absolutely! Sign me up now!” -Fario, 25

  13. “KEEP ME!”

“ALEXA, play ‘GET MONEY’ by Junior Mafia. Keep me wifey. KEEP ME!” -Ryan, 27

  14. “These women are crazy.”

“No! These women are crazy when it comes to power in 2018. Ariana probably got a house arrest monitor on that guy’s balls. Groceries probably all she LET him do.” -Aaron, 33

  15. “The perfect dream for me.”

“Yes, I actually prefer the woman to make the bread. The perfect dream for me would be being able to sit up with my kids and enjoy my house. I envy those housewives. I want to play in the park and talk about the gym while she at work paying the bills. Goals AF.” -Kelvin, 27

  17. "I think it’s f**king sexy.”

“A lot of guys because of pride would say ‘no,’ but I’m open to it. I think it’s f**king sexy that the woman can provide. I will still be saving my money too. Like I wouldn’t be just sitting home blowing her cash, but I don’t mind the role reversal from the old days.” -Kellian, 31

  18. “New normal.”

“This is the new normal. Men want to take care of the home too! Sh*t, I would be in the kitchen in a robe cooking her breakfast every morning and sending the kids off to school. Like those movies with the wealthy white women.” -Rome, 38

  19. “If I was gay, for sure.”

“No, ‘kept man’ sounds ridiculous in a heterosexual relationship. Now, if I was gay, for sure! Not saying it’s gay, but that’s just the only way I see a man being taken care of realistically. But, let's be honest—what black woman wants a n***a who sit home all day while she is working. Ma' would need to be born into money.” -Sean, 31
