At Least 12 People Injured In Shooting At A South Carolina Mall
Police are investigating after a shooting inside a Columbia, South Carolina mall left at least 12 people injured. According to The Associated Press, law enforcement officers have detained three people in connection with the shooting, while they try to figure out what exactly happened.
“We don’t believe this was random,” Columbia Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook told reporters. “We believe they knew each other and something led to the gunfire.”
Though no fatalities have been reported, police said eight people were transported to a local hospital and at least two of those were in critical condition. According to Holbrook, the injured victims ranged in age from 15 to 73.
Columbiana Centre Mall is approximately 10 miles from downtown Columbia, and police have set up a reunification area nearby for victims and their families while they continue to investigate
