[Watch] Kyle Lowry Slapped LeBron James With a Backhanded Compliment
Kyle Lowry is throwing rocks at the King James's throne.
Fresh off of dropping 35 points and dishing nine assists to lead the Toronto Raptors to a Game 7 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday, the all-star point guard didn't hesitate taking shots at LeBron James.
When asked by ESPN about what he's looking forward to the most about the Raptors meeting James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, Lowry snuck in this backhanded compliment about the King: "LeBron's probably one of the best players in the league... besides Steph [Curry]."
Oh, wow. He really did take it there.
Check out Lowry's slick talk here.
You have got to think that Kyle knew exactly what he was doing in slapping LeBron with this backhanded compliment. Last week, James drew criticism for shading the "valuable" part of Curry's MVP, before Curry returned fire, saying he has perfected ignoring people over the years.
So, Lowry making sure to evoke Curry when talking about LeBron certainly seemed like a conscious effort.
Hey, Kyle — just be careful what you ask for. LeBron's Cavs are a flawless 8-0 through the playoffs thus far, looking hellbent on returning to the NBA Finals. You may have just lit additional fire up under King James. That and Kyrie Irving is far from a slouch, too. The Raptors are going to have their hands full.
The Cavs host the Raptors in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Cleveland on Tuesday night.
Let's see if King James sends Lowry a message then. If so, Godspeed, Drake.
