Iowa Republicans Think Beyoncé Is ‘Mental Poison’
Mike Huckabee referred to Beyoncé's music as "obnoxious and toxic mental poison" in his new book and Iowa Republicans seem to agree. In a new poll conducted by Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register, 402 likely Republican caucus-goers and 401 likely Democratic caucus-goers were polled.
The polled group was asked, "In his recently published book, Mike Huckabee criticized the singer Beyoncé, calling her 'mental poison.' Do you think Huckabee is mostly right about Beyoncé or did he go too far?"
After the results were tallied, it was concluded that 40 percent of the Republicans thought that Huckabee was "mostly right," while 38 percent felt like he went too far and 22 percent were unsure. Among the Democrats polled, 81 percent thought Huckabee went too far, six percent thoughts he was "mostly right" and 13 percent were unsure.
In another question, Huckabee's attack on President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's parenting skills was addressed: "Mike Huckabee said the Obamas were guilty of bad parenting for allowing their daughters to listen to Beyoncé's music. Do you think Huckabee is mostly right about the Obamas, or did he go too far?"
While 61 percent of Republicans thought he went too far, 23 percent thought he was mostly right and 16 percent were unsure. Among the group of Democrats polled, 95 percent thought he went too far, two percent felt he was mostly right and three percent were unsure.
