Sheff G Sentenced to 5 Years After Pleading Guilty to Attempted Murder, Conspiracy
Brooklyn rapper Sheff G has been sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted murder and conspiracy related to a violent gang scheme.
According to Fox 5, Sheff, born Michael Williams, accepted the court offer of five years and five years of post-release supervision, as he was named in a 140-count indictment with 32 alleged gang members. Prosecutors in the case aimed for Sheff to have a 20-year sentence. While seventeen defendants have pleaded guilty to the charges, fourteen additional cases are pending, with one being fellow drill rapper Sleepy Hallow. Many of the suspects are purported members of New York street gangs 8 Trey Crips and the 9 Ways gang.
Prosecutors allege that while gang members fought rivals in Brooklyn, Sheff G rewarded them with cash and jewelry. Sheff G is also accused of celebrating a 2020 shooting that killed a rival gang member and injured five others by treating Hallow and associates to a steakhouse dinner in Manhattan.
Last May, Sheff and Hallow appeared at a Donald Trump campaign rally in the Bronx, both championing the twice-impeached president.
"Notoriety could not shield this defendant from justice. He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets," said Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. "Brooklyn will not tolerate gangs that endanger our communities."
Sheff is scheduled to be sentenced on August 13.
