LeBron James About Buying WNBA Team From Kelly Loeffler After Warnock Win
GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler just lost her Georgia Senate seat to Rev. Rahael Warnock on Jan. 5, she might now lose her stake in her WNBA team. LeBron James may be interested in buying her shares in the Atlanta Dream after the team campaigned so successfully against her.
After Loeffler’s crushing defeat in Georgia, James tweeted, “Think I’m gone put together an ownership group for the The Dream. Whose in?”

Loeffler, a loyal Trump supporter, has been at odds with the stars of the Atlanta Dream. In July, they proudly endorsed Rev. Raphael Warnock who is the projected winner for the Georgia Senate race.
Last June, Loeffler criticized the Black Lives Matter movement for being a “very divisive organization” that promotes “violence and destruction across the country.”
Since then, players from across the league and particularly those of the Atlanta Dream began wearing “Vote Warnock” T-shirts on national television, in support of the Morehouse grad and pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.

According to the Washington Post on November 30, Warnock said the support from the WNBA was pivotal in his Senate race and was even a “turning point” in his campaign.
“Warnock noted that, in the 48 hours after the WNBA’s Aug. 4 T-shirt campaign, his campaign raised $183,000 and attracted 3,500 new grass-root donors,” the outlet reported.
“In fact, in both late June, when the WNBA criticized Loeffler, and early August, when the players began supporting Warnock, his campaign raised a great deal in donations, with high dollar totals and high numbers of donors.”
Looks like the WNBA’s support paid off.
The tally after midnight on Wednesday, Jan. 6 had Warnock with 50.5% of the vote and Loeffler with 49.5% of the vote. A CBS News exit poll shows that Warnock received 92% of the Black vote, 66% of the urban vote and 67% of the vote from Georgia voters under the age of 30. Warnock makes history as the state’s first Black senator.
Loeffler has co-owned the Atlanta Dream since 2011.
