Jackson Family Reacts to Conrad Murray Verdict

Michael's sister LaToya and mother Katherine express relief.

It was an emotional end to a six-week cliffhanger for the family of Michael Jackson. The late pop star's mother and siblings expressed joy and relief upon hearing that Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on Monday.

"[Michael] was in that courtroom and that's why victory was served," Jackson's sister La Toya told CNN's Headline News while leaving the courthouse. She also addressed supporters on Twitter: "Victory!" she tweeted. "Michael, I love you and I will continue to fight until ALL are brought to justice. Thank you everyone for your love and support!"

Added his other sister Rebbie: "I'm just happy it's over with. Nothing will bring him back, but I'm just happy (Murray) was found guilty."

MJ's mother Katherine Jackson dabbed at tears upon hearing the verdict, but later gave a joint statement with her husband, Joe Jackson, to TMZ:

"We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time, and we couldn't hold back tears of joy in the courtroom," said Katherine, 81, and Joe, 83. "Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served!"

There has been no response yet from those siblings who were not in attendance for the trial verdict, including Janet Jackson, who is currently touring in Australia.
