Michael B. Jordan Might Have Landed the Role of a Lifetime
The powers that be at Warner Bros. are gearing up to remake the 1999 action sci-fi classic The Matrix. However, according to new reports, its modern take will not feature Keanu Reeves in the leading role of Neo. Instead, they've chosen Michael B. Jordan to spearhead the film.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on Tuesday, stating that Warner Bros. "is in the early stages" of giving the film a modern take.
While news of Jordan's addition as the new star leaves much to be celebrated, some fans of the original may be displeased to learn that the Wachowskis, who wrote and directed the original film, are not involved with the new project.
THR revealed that X-Men: The Last Stand author Zak Penn is being considered to write the film.
The Matrix's original producer Joel Silver sold the rights of the film to Warner Bros. for a reported $30 million in 2012.
