Diddy Reveals Kim Porter's Last Words To Him In 'Essence' Cover Story
In his first tell-all interview with Essence magazine since the passing of beloved mother, supermodel and industry sweetheart Kim Porter, Diddy shared the never-before-told story about his last days with his longtime life partner, as well as her last words.
Penned by Dream Hampton, Puff described his transition into “mommy mode” after the devastating loss of the Porter-Combs matriarch that left him as the sole guardian of their three children, Christian Combs, and twins D’Lila Star and Jessie James Combs. Puff distinctly recalls the events that unfolded leading up to that fateful day, which he shared in intricate and heartbreaking detail with Hampton.
‘That day turned my world upside down,’ he revealed
Puff recalled that three days before her untimely passing, she told him that she wasn’t feeling well and sent their children to his home so they wouldn’t catch her flu. A foreboding wish she asked of him the day of her passing was, perhaps, the most chilling memory of them all, however. “One night I was checking on her, and she was like, ‘Puffy, take care of my babies.’ She actually said that to me before she died.”
Along with their three children, Puff and Porter healthily led a blended family with his daughter, Chance and Justin Combs, from two separate relationships, and Porter’s son Quincy Brown, from her former relationship with R&B’s Al B Sure!
Admittedly, Puff acknowledged the past indiscretions that severed their intimate relationship, too. “The betrayal really affected Kim,” he confessed of his infidelity. The Bad Boy Records frontier feared it would cost him his “best friend,” he said, and it took a while for them to get through their healing period and reestablish trust. “Whenever I was around her, I felt as though God had his hand in it,” he said. “I always felt like God had sent her. Nobody could love me the way she loved me, especially as, you know, as crazy as I acted. I mean, she loved me through some real sh*t.”
