After the Dolphins' victory over the Jaguars on Sunday (Sept. 8), Tyreek Hill initially hesitated to discuss his recent interaction with the Miami-Dade police right before the game. However, the following day, he chose to share his perspective. 

In an interview with CNN on Monday (Sept. 9) night, the wide receiver emphasized that being a public figure likely spared him from a more dangerous outcome, even suggesting that the situation could have escalated to him being shot if he weren’t a celebrity.

"If I wasn't Tyreek Hill, worst-case scenario, we would have had a different article: 'Tyreek Hill got shot in front of Hard Rock Stadium'… or 'Tyreek Hill put in handcuffs, taken in and booked,” he said.

In a separate interview, Hill mentioned that he tried cooperating with the officer who stopped him just a few blocks from Hard Rock Stadium. "It was one of those situations where I was like, 'Here you go, my ID sir.' And I let back up my window," Hill said. "He said, 'Let it down.' I let it down. That's when it went from zero to ten. Other officer came in, just pulled me out," he told NBC Nightly News. "I was opening my door, and I was trying to get out, but I felt like they was wanting me to move fast. They felt like I was a threat, and I don't see why they felt like I was a threat," he continued. 

As previously reported by BET, the Miami-Dade Police Department placed an officer on administrative leave Sunday following the incident.
